It was more than magic

So I’ve been on many many many silly adventures, since I’ve last posted.

Went to Genting about a week ago and it was a lot of fun, my gosh. We didn’t get to explore most of the outdoor park (and consequently, didn’t get to go on many of the rides either), since it was raining, but we had a lot of fun fagging about the Indoor park and mall place.

And you know what? I honestly loved the cool weather up there, reminded me of San Francisco, and also the silliness that entails the Malaysians XD

See, we can understand Malaysians adapting better to the humid climate, I mean, I know as Malaysians, we throw snickers at the silly tourists who wear those ridiculous shorts and wide-brimmed hats and tank tops, and a backpack possibly filled to the brim with waterbottles, mosquito repellents and sunblock.

As a Malaysian who has dealt with cool weather, however, I couldn’t help but snicker at Malaysians who were outright wearing WINTER GEAR up in the Highlands. I could understand feeling cold in your short shorts and tees, I know I would, I went there with a sensible cardigan, some woolen tights, a scarf and some boots. When I see the dainty Asian girls with their parkas and hoodies and fur-lined and godawful Ugg boots, I near cried from laughter. I could understand a bit of over-preperation, it can get chilly up there and it would be most uncomfortable to walk around in nothing but your knickers, but really? Throw on a sweater and some proper shoes and you’ll be fine.

However, despite some over-prepared Chinese girlies walking about in and out from the casinos and abundance of Chinese restaurants, I couldn’t help but wonder what on Earth silly girls were walking about with mini skirts and flimsy peasant tops were thinking.

It was such a nice trip though, get out of the house, head to the border and just have good-clean fun <3 Arrived at First World at about 8 am? Most of the rides and shops weren’t open, so we decided to roam around a little and had some breakfast at Marrybrown’s. Their chicken is amazing, their nasi lemak, however, left much to be desired :p

I think we spent most of our time in the Ripley’s Museum of Facts and Oddities! which, is really really cool, if you like anything that involves brain teasing and optical illusions X)

I had a lot of fun though, even if the rides were a little on the kiddy-side X) We did stop by for coffee and cheesecake at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf <3 Also, managed to snag myself some Blush! lingerie heehee! We’re gonna go back up there, possibly with more of our friends, since it seemed like a lot of the outdoor rides catered to 4 or more people > w>

It’s just nice though, to plan a little daytrip and get away from it all <3

So yes, lovely trip <3

First off, I did a ridiculously fun room meme, here :’D Y’all get to see how messy and fab my room is, and yes, one wall is painted blue-green :3

Also, got some shots from the Hippie Photoshoot with Lisa, Indy, Obi and Fizzy :)

Awesome sauce, no?

Anyway, to the main point of this entry… someone mentioned to me a while ago about the state of certain members on the CF boards and how, it in turn, reflects badly on the rest of the community. Some time during the conversation though, I brought up about how I really honestly didn’t ‘care’ much for anime/manga things anymore, at least not as much as I did, say 3 or 4 years ago. In turn though, I think that whole waning of interest led me to not have enjoyed the previous CF event.

I mean, I’m not a gamer to begin with, and most games that I do find enjoyable are the kind of games that are off-beat, quirky and honestly? Hard to appeal to some of the gamers here (Psychonauts comes to mind). And anime sorta lost its hold on me, that or the Japanese are losing their touch, I tend to roll my eyes now at some of the new releases. The older series however, still hold their magic on me (anyone remember Boys Be or You’re Under Arrest?). So, I don’t think I’ll attend the CF events, at least not for the event itself. Sure, I’ll meet up with friends and man the booth, but if only because I’m still very much involved in the art.

That, and each event tends to cost more and more for me ; w; And because I don’t keep up with anime/manga/mainstream games, I have to comb through some of the booths, hoping that a table somewhere out there has merch out there worth my time and money ; w;

Stones and Water are my Inspiration

Hey loves :> Been having bouts of The Sims 2 (which explains the header at the top of this post here) and driving what little energy or will I have left, throwing screenshots from the game into Photoshop and turning them into graphics that would make a scene kid blush.

Not much has gone in the way of activity for me, other than hanging out with returning friends and painting the town red. I saw the ab-fab RIYA yesterday, much fun, hanging out with Reza, Shaun, Mad and two of their friends (whose names I didn’t manage to catch!). Fun, as in stoner movies and breaking pieces off bass guitars :p

Today, caught up with Fizzy and a few others, which is always, always nice, because I *love* that boy’s mind and the conversations we have. We go from mature and philosophical to childish and petty the next, haha. Peppered with some scantilating humor and a dose of black/dry humor > w> He told me about his trip to Myanmar, showed me pictures, really nice :> If he had asked me waaaay before hand, I wouldn’t have minded and gone along with him (parental units seem to approve of the idea when I casually brought it up).

My seeing him, however, did not have me empty handed though!

Elaborate, heavy, colorful and straight from the heart :> Definitely a perfect gift XD And that silly bird was worried about me not liking it, pshaw

Was definitely a good day though :> For a while I was sitting around the house practically moping how I wasn’t really doing anything (I wasn’t!) and how I wanted to go out more often. It’s something of a dying wish, you see; when I first got my license and a car of my own, I thought how insanely cool it would be to drive out whenever I so pleased and see my friends and have a blast out in the town or in the hidden corners of Cyberjaya. But… reality is radically different than fiction :p Often times, I’d forget that my friends were of the international persuasion, and thus, were often jetted back to their homelands. Those who were local usually made plans with family/friends for trips (leaving me out of it).

I can’t say that the holidays haven’t gone without reason though; we’re doing some home improvements around the house (finally!) and there was a mention on fixing up bedroom, since we’re done with the bathrooms. I’m definitely gonna enjoy the trip out to IKEA, I know it’s silly, but I just love looking at the little show space in the stores and how everything’s set up. New furniture is always fun and now I’m getting that excitement without having to move out! Haha.

Also, the amazing thing about having a literate boyfriend is that, whatever he says on a whim or in his faux-philisophical highness, often times inspire me XD He’s done so already in the past.

Let’s see what happens, eh?

The world SHOULD revolve around me!

So I was listening to this song by Little Jackie called ‘The World Should Revolve Around Me’, and seriously, I’m loving the Motown and Hip-Hop beats thrown together and making this rad new sound Mad props to them, definitely gotta watch out for these two!

Got new art up! Check it out:

Funny thing about this one, I got an SMS from a certain, notorious someone; being the lovable idiots that we are, we exchanged messages in this faux, intimidating, death-has-warmed-over Romeo and Juliet deal.

Then I started sketching this out and just finished it all in one sitting :v
I realize I stopped with the whole refined lineart for my more personal works, the drawing flows SO much better this way and I can be messy and sloppy all I want, you don’t know how satisfying it is to see the work come together so nicely :>

Though, despite enjoying getting comments on my piece, I really second guess myself whenever I post on the CF boards. Most of the members there are nice, it’s just that there are two certain parties there who THRIVE on negativity; always critisizing the pic without actually telling the artist what’s wrong, how it can be fixed and instead, go straight to slamming the artist for not being good enough (when they’re mediocre artists themselves).

Ah, the other side of Malaysians. Oh well, any publicity, is good publicity as they say XD

Ohai! I get to keep my scholarship, so that’s always a good thing :D

So the system wasn’t wrong, it turns out :\ I got my result slip today and they seem to keep within the regular 4-point grading system, the numbers I got alongside the grades, were actually all the credits I got within the module. Which, by the by, I scored full marks on all the credits in all my modules, meaning I passed rather well, I was just off the mark by literally, less than a quarter. Sucks loads, but my mom and I are going down tomorrow to see what we can do about this. I’m going to stay positive, though, wish me all the best guys!

IN OTHER NEWS…
Wanted to go to Youth09, meet up with some cool peeps and old friends but… bleh, I didn’t! But we’re slowly doing some home improvements around the house, getting rid of old furniture and fixing things up. We’re starting with the bathrooms and I have to say, giving the entire place a good scrub down makes it so much different, we even gave it a new coat of paint just because XD Can’t wait for the whole house to be finished up :>

Next up is my room, was thinking of painting the room a bluish-green, with some wall decals from WhatIsBlik.com :>

So yes, some very awesome stuff, they can be removed and placed elsewhere if/when you need to and they come with a really nice price. I’m looking at Undoboy’s Dreamland, 8-bit Sprites and Space Invaders, definitely looking forward to this

Oh hey and fashion spoils, can’t recall if I mentioned this, but a while back I went to MidValley with my mom and brother for ‘just-because-we-can’ shopping’ and I found myself this cute little dress from Niichi

Absolutely love dresses :>

Till next time…

Lately…

Lately, things have been on a rather… moderate scale? Nothing big or exciting would be happening in the near future it seems, since my friends, my lovelies and all are leaving (or have left). Those who are staying here are going back to their hometowns or are too busy to take a day for themselves :c

I saw Diva and the girls today, stopping over for a quick visit with Fizzy later on after that. Ah~ I know it’ll really only be three or so weeks, but damn, I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t miss them.

I’m gonna send my Christmas goodies to Kat soon, hope she likes what I got for her, though it might be a bit late > w>;; Been looking up at some fashion blogs as of late, I really like this one here:

StreetSnaps Singapore

I love street fashion; I love looking at what people can come up with, sometimes with nothing more than just jeans, a clever top and a few accessories they stole somewhere. So definitely check it out <3

PC FAIR 2008

Add a comment

Today, I went to the PC fair at KLCC (that’s Kuala Lumpur Convention Center not KL City Center). Now, I was going on and on about getting a good bargain on some electronics and gadgets; I need a small digital camera to record little things like lunches with friends. I save my DSLR for special occasions like trips or big dinners, so you know…

So we make our way over there and not only was the place CROWDED and they had a very strange layout (the convention was split up into different floors, so after you’ve seen a whopping total of ten booths, you have to walk down a hall, down the elevator to see the other 50 or so). And you had to start from the top so… yeah, weird layout that made no sense didn’t impresss me much.

Instead of seeing simple booths with wares on display at bargain prices, I saw leng-luis (A Malaysian-Chinese term for a sexy-young-thang) with sponsor outfits SHOVING my face with fliers the minute I was in a 15 feet radius of them. Also, the prices? As much as they slashed it down, I really couldn’t justify some of the prices. And honestly? I could get much better prices from resellers or straight from the company themselves, no bargaining either. I tried to cut a deal on a camera, but these salespeople kept insisting that they couldn’t go any lower than that (when really, yes, they can, I’ve seen such prices out and about, shopping season or no).

Argh! I figured it was a disappointment/rip-off the moment I stepped in though, it was more like a showy display rather than a fair. Wasn’t really interested in buying anything either, nothing really caught my eye. Salespeople were more like mules, following me around with, “Yessir, can I help you???” holding out a catalogue/brochure/environmental injury in their hands hoping that I would take in a desperate and maddening consumer buying rush. Couldn’t really hold my attention for more than two seconds since these guys started sounding repetitive. “Oh yes, this is the latest gizmo we’ve come up with! Look how impractically cool this is! It can brush your teeth and give you instant WiFi access!”

:\

What was good about today though? Shopping at Suria KLCC :) Got myself a fancy new dress and some neat accessories to go with it. I love how just walking into a store and there a cute little dress is looking at me in the face and when I try it, it fits so perfectly and oh, joy, even better when it’s at a reasonable price (for a branded item)!

Oh Happy Day~

Happy Days
So, over in the magical realm of Livejournal, I was tagged by the most notorious Sagani (a member of my doujin circle), she tagged me with the question of “What made you happy today?”. Now, aside from the very casual and friendly, ‘How’re you today?’ gig, I smiled when I read that question, because I thought back on the day to what made me happy; spending some time with those who I care about, sharing laughs and acting goofy and silly. Really, there’s no better way to do it than watching silly shows/movies and painting risque women on a wooden board

So yeah, I’m glad she asked that question, and one I’m going to ask back; what made you happy today?

PayPal issues worked out
Well, as it turns out, my bank hasn’t allowed the use of debit cards onlineĀ  yet, which does frustrate me, really, because here I am with a PayPal account and no bank account linked to it (which I should do soon). In any and all case, there were talks of me getting a credit card as well, which is awesome sauce, because now I really have no excuse of, “Uhm… I was out of money?”. And it does make my inner shopaholic/fashionista (I could never tell those two apart sometimes) twitch at the fingers even more, haha.

PC Fair
Going to KLCC tomorrow to head out to the coveted PC Fair which I keep missing year after year. And this time, I’m getting myself a small digital camera (that hopefully would be able to take pictures as well). I like recording moments and sharing them with friends, and honestly, they make for good nostalgia. Remember the days when the family would gather round and watch home videos? I love those moments and it’s such a sad thing to see it go like that.

So while it’s not quite gathering at the couch in front of the TV trying for the life of you to figure out how to connect the camcorder to the TV, I think uploading it from a USB cable and a little editing here and there would make it otherwise presentable for Facebook/blogging uses ;D

Pointless, adorable things!
Check it out, look what I found online! Pixel Art <3 Really cute stuff and affordable too, I’m thinking of getting the Mario Mushroom, but in a bigger size so it would look better on a necklace! I’ll have to drive to Sunway Pyramid to pick it up from her (apparently, she doesn’t deliver via mail), but I wouldn’t mind, it’s a delicious piece of art!

All shopped out.

And when I mean shopped out, I don’t mean I’ve been Photoshopped out of a picture by some vengeful girlfriend :’D

Saying that I hardly go shopping and return empty handed is something of a dirty lie. Today, my spoils include some pens I’ve been looking for, a simple chain (which I plan on putting a pendant on it and presenting it to a good friend of mine :3) and a pair of surprisingly comfortable heels! And in my size!

Now, for those not in the know, I haven’t been blessed with dainty feet (it comes with the package of being a tall lanky person), so needless to say, finding shoes my size, especially girlish heels, have been something akin to finding the Holy Grail.

All the same though, I found two pairs from the same place, Vincci. Malaysians should know this brand, I really do like how they last and the selections they have!

I have to apologize for the dark pictures, though the point is that you can see just how fabulous they are. I’ve never liked most peep-toe shoes out there, but I just fell in love with this pair regardless!

And I mentioned about another pair I got from the outlet, so here it is, my fabled white pumps:

I’ve worn them a few times now, their first runs was from a photoshoot with a friend XD
